Become a MemberThe SAPVS mission is to advance and disseminate the science and practice of HPV and HPV-related diseases by promoting excellence in understanding, prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of Papilloma virus-related diseases.
The aim of the Society is to contribute to the elimination of Papilloma virus-related diseases across Southern Africa.
SAPVS assembles scientists and scholars to push beyond current knowledge, supports evidence-based policies, and advocates for increased public and private health funding in this field.

Her research focus is on cervical cancer prevention and treatment, including in people living with HIV. She collaborates with national and international researchers and has co-authored several articles in journals. She served on the council of the International Gynaecological Cancer Society and is international vice-chair of the HPV Working Group of the AIDS malignancy consortium.

Muhangwi Mulaudzi, MBChB, studied medicine at MEDUNSA and qualified in 1990. He is a passionate family physician with extensive HIV/AIDS experience. Founder of Phomolong Medical Centre and involved in HIV guideline development. Co-founder of African Viral Care Society and Interim Chairman of Pan African HIV Clinicians Society.
He is a well-known international speaker and played a major role in establishing PrEP Train-the-Trainers programmes in several African countries. Served on numerous pharmaceutical advisory boards since 1998.

Dr Bonolo Mashishi is a clinical virologist advancing maternal health and HPV disease prevention in Southern Africa. She integrates clinical expertise, lab science, and public-health advocacy to improve outcomes for women and vulnerable populations.
As a committed SAPVS member, she contributes to regional scientific dialogue, awareness initiatives, and collaborative research reducing the HPV burden across the continent.

Dr. Mabowa Makhomisane is a Primary Healthcare physician specialising in diabetes care, cardiovascular research, and communicable diseases. Qualified at UKZN, Postgrad Diploma in Diabetes (South Wales), and Master’s degrees.
Manages general practice, principal investigator at SAHPRA, contributes to peer-reviewed journals, and serves on multiple advisory boards.

Dr. Mbodi is Clinical HOD at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Academic HOD at Wits Gynaecologic Oncology Unit, and Lecturer at Wits University. Specialises in gynaecology oncology, prevention, screening, and surgical treatment.
Holds Certification in Gynaecology Oncology (CMSA), Postgrad Diploma in Health Sciences Education (Wits), MSc and MMed (O&G) (Wits).
